B&R Industrial Automation's X20cSL8100 is a SafeLOGIC controller capable of handling safety functions across various devices simultaneously. As a safety controller module, this device is responsible for halting operation during an emergency or upon receiving a safety condition trigger. For large industrial systems consisting of several components, capable of causing damages to other properties and harming personnel, having this safety logic controller mitigates the drastic impacts of unexpected events. The X20cSL8100 is a coated module, allowing it to perform its functions reliably even in condensing and corrosive environments. It is programmable using SafeDesigner software or via the Automation Studio.

The X20cSL8100 uses a POWERLINK interface to communicate with other devices. Specifically, its fieldbus type is called a POWERLINK-controlled node, and it uses a double-shielded RJ45 port. At most, the X20cSL8100 can communicate at a distance of 100 meters per node and transfers at an optimal rate of 100 Mbit/s. It requires 24 VDC of input voltage and a maximum current of 0.25 A. Aside from its interface, the X20cSL8100 allows intercommunication between devices and supports safe commissioning options and SafeMOTION. The safeMOTION support, however, is limited by the number of recognized SafeKEY licenses.

In addition to the X20cSL8100's safety functions, the X20cSL8100 also performs automatic parameter downloads for its connected downloads whenever needed. With this feature, connected modules receive relevant updates based on the current system's configuration. This SafeLogic controller easily identifies modules that need replacement or repair service as well. After purchasing the X20cSL8100, the SafeKEY and SafeLOGIC functions can be bought using the configurator for the X20MK. The right end cover plate, 12-pin X20 terminal block, and SafeKEY cover are all included upon delivery.
