Product Description:
B&R Automation produces the X20cSC2432, a compact safety relay module within the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Designed to occupy a single slot on an X20 backplane, the unit provides both safe input channels and force-guided relay outputs for shutting down actuators when a fault is detected. In an automation cell, the module bridges hard-wired safety devices such as emergency-stop buttons to a system controller over the same fieldbus that carries standard process signals, reducing wiring and enabling diagnostic feedback without compromising stop-category requirements.
The front terminal strip uses push-in terminals, allowing toolless insertion of solid or ferruled conductors onto the removable block that carries 16 pins for sensor, power, and relay wiring. Two field-driven outputs can produce test pulses; each channel sources a logic high of 24 VDC and supports up to 2 pulses per safety cycle so controllers can detect line faults. When a stop command is issued, the module uses a pair of force-guided contacts arranged as 2 × 1 NO, and the contacts can switch up to 48 VAC / 6 A or a 6 A load on a 24-volt direct-current circuit. The internal circuitry is qualified for overvoltage category II and operates behind an IP20 enclosure, matching typical cabinet conditions.
The electronics tolerate air saturated to 100% condensing humidity and continue to function at site elevations up to 2000 m without derating. Two independent safe digital inputs of Type A permit connection of dual-channel devices such as light curtains, and the input paths are monitored for short circuits and cross faults. Mechanical integrity is verified to 15 g shock and 1 g vibration, supporting installation on mobile or high-impact machinery. The module can be installed in control cabinets on stamping presses, material handlers, and other cyclic equipment.
