Product Description:
The X20CPS9400 module is a compact power supply segment produced by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input/Output Modules series. Acting as the centralized power interface within an X20 I/O slice, it distributes regulated power to downstream electronic and sensor loads while maintaining system-wide diagnostics. In an automation cabinet, it provides the voltage reference that supports high-density digital and analog terminals, ensuring stable operation across distributed machine control architectures.
On the backplane, the module draws only 0.2 W of bus power, so it places a minimal load on the controller node. It converts the incoming trunk line to a usable internal bus rated at 24 VDC and can deliver a continuous bus output of 7 W to neighboring modules. Communication with adjacent slices adds another 1.42 W of X2X Link demand, which must be reserved in the cabinet’s DC power budget. For field components connected through the I/O channel, the module can supply a peak aggregate current of 10 A without derating. Internal logic and status circuits consume an additional 0.60 W, leaving most of the available capacity for external loads.
The separate sensor rail is handled by an internal supply capable of 240 W, allowing power-intensive actuators to be fed through the same housing. The body withstands vibration up to 1 g and shock pulses of 15 g without losing contact, supporting operation under typical factory-floor conditions. Electrical safety is classified under overvoltage Category II, indicating suitability for equipment permanently connected to low-voltage installations. The IP20 enclosure permits mounting inside protective cabinets and guards against accidental contact with hazardous internal parts. Its compact profile also helps preserve orderly DIN-rail layouts when the module is installed alongside densely arranged I/O slices.
