The X20CP1301 is a control processor module from B&R Automation that belongs to the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Designed for distributed automation, the unit combines CPU, memory, and local signal channels so it can execute logic, collect data, and forward it to higher-level systems over a fieldbus network. Two analog inputs, one Pt1000 temperature channel, and thirty digital lines are available directly on the housing, allowing small machines to be built without separate I/O slices or extra terminal blocks.
Processing performance starts with a Vx86EX core running at 200 MHz. The controller completes a single machine operation in just 0.0419 µs, which supports fast response in positioning and material-handling tasks. Active program variables reside in 128 MB DDR3 SDRAM, while application code is stored in 1 GB eMMC flash so it remains available after power loss. The module provides 30 digital channels, and its two analog inputs capture process values with 16-bit resolution. A single Pt1000 input supports direct temperature measurement, and the base load of only 4.3 W helps limit heat buildup inside the cabinet. One modular interface slot also allows later bus expansion without replacing the CPU.
Task scheduling can be set as low as 2 ms, which helps separate time-critical motion from background diagnostics. Long-distance serial integration is available through the RS232 channel, which reaches 900 m and supports 115.2 kbit/s for sensor gateways or other serial devices. A USB service port delivers 0.5 A, enough to power a flash drive during local access. Sixteen kilobytes of FRAM store remanent variables, and the X2X link provides 2 W to downstream modules so local sensors can remain supplied during system operation.
