Product Description:
The X20CMR011 is a compact fieldbus I/O module produced by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Designed for machine and line-level installations, the unit combines mixed-signal acquisition with onboard preprocessing so that a controller can monitor process variables through a single backplane connection. Within an automation cell, it serves as an edge device that gathers electrical and environmental data and forwards it through the X20 system bus to higher-level PLCs or SCADA hosts. This arrangement centralizes several monitoring functions within a narrow module and reduces the number of separate devices connected to the controller.
The module offers two 24 V digital inputs that detect standard sensor or switch states and one 24 V, 0.5 A sourcing output for driving relays or indicator loads. It also provides two Pt1000 external inputs for direct temperature measurement without additional signal conditioners. For local recipe storage or buffered logging, the module includes 512 kB of user flash memory, which preserves key values during power cycles. When enabled, Production Data Acquisition time-stamps incoming events so that the host CPU can reconstruct trends or identify bottlenecks without continuous polling. The module processes these signals locally before transmitting the resulting data over the system bus.
Condition monitoring is handled by an integrated accelerometer that streams vibration levels, an integrated moisture sensor that detects potential ingress before corrosion starts, and an integrated temperature sensor that tracks internal heat rise. These sensors share the same sampling engine, providing synchronized data sets alongside the electrical input measurements. All measurements are formatted inside the module, reducing fieldbus traffic and supporting deterministic scheduling for the main CPU. The compact form factor aligns mechanically with other X20 modules, and installation requires no additional carriers beyond the native backplane. Its combination of electrical inputs, local memory, and embedded sensing allows the controller to receive organized process and condition data through one module connection.
