Product Description:
The X20CMR010 cabinet monitoring module is produced by B & R Automation within the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Intended for mounting inside a control cabinet, the unit acts as a monitoring point for the host I/O station by sampling temperature, humidity, and mechanical stress. It fits a single slot on the X20 backplane and streams its measurements over the fieldbus so supervisory controllers can initiate derating or shutdown procedures before electronic components exceed safe limits. Because it occupies only one X20 slot, the module adds cabinet condition monitoring without requiring separate panel devices or additional signal wiring to the PLC rack.
During horizontal installation, the module remains functional up to 60°C. This limit reflects the thermal tolerance of the internal components and sets the maximum cabinet temperature for that mounting position. Cold-start service continues down to -25°C, allowing deployment in unheated facilities. Reliable operation is supported up to 2000 m above sea level, where thinner air still allows adequate convection cooling. The housing carries an IP20 protection rating, preventing accidental contact with energized parts while relying on the cabinet for dust and moisture sealing. Shock tolerance of 15 g helps protect the sensing electronics against impacts that can occur during panel transport or maintenance activity.
When mounted vertically, the thermal path changes, limiting continuous service to 50°C. An integrated humidity sensor works alongside the onboard temperature sensor and monitors conditions up to a non-condensing limit of 95% RH. The circuit board also withstands vibrational loads of 1 g, and its user flash capacity of 512 kB stores production data acquired locally before forwarding it to the PLC. Local storage allows recent measurements and event records to remain available for control logic, alarm handling, and historical review.
