Product Description:
The X20CM4323 is a digital output module produced by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. As a compact slice inserted on an X20 backplane, it provides fast transistor outputs to actuators such as relays and contactors while sharing power and fieldbus lines with neighboring slices. Its role in industrial automation is to distribute low-voltage control signals from a controller to field devices with minimal latency. Because it mounts directly in an X20 station, it supports compact control layouts where output switching must remain close to the rest of the distributed I/O system.
Each of the four channels operates from a nominal supply of 24 VDC and can deliver a continuous load of 0.75 A per point, with the module ceiling fixed by a total nominal current of 3 A. The transistors tolerate up to 48 VDC at the terminal, making the outputs suitable for inductive devices. The sink-type output stage delivers negative switching relative to the common supply. High-speed demand is served by a switching resolution of 125 ns, and pulse waveforms can be trimmed with a duty-cycle granularity of 1%. Four discrete status LEDs mirror the state of the 4 digital outputs during operation. At startup, the inrush current peaks at 1.5 A, and the electronics draw 1.4 W from the internal I/O rail. Field wiring is completed through 1-Wire connections, and external circuits must be fused at no more than 10 A.
At the backplane interface, the module draws only 0.01 W of bus power, so logic loading on the compact controller remains negligible. Each channel includes a clamping network that limits inductive kickback to 27 VDC, helping protect adjacent slices and field wiring from switching transients. The plastic housing carries an IP20 rating, so the module is intended for cabinet installation while still allowing tool-free exchange. This layout suits control cabinets that need fast DC output switching without adding a separate interface layer between the controller and field devices.
