Product Description:
The X20cIF10D3-1 interface module is manufactured by B & R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Designed for distributed control systems, the device attaches to an X20 backplane and creates an EtherNet/IP channel between a central PLC and adjacent I/O slices. The module operates as a slave device, so it accepts commands from the controller and returns input data at the requested scan rate rather than initiating traffic. This arrangement allows the module to serve as a network bridge for industrial automation systems that use distributed inputs and outputs.
The circuitry continues to operate in atmospheres reaching 100% condensing humidity, helping prevent interruptions in humid washdown areas. An RJ45 connector provides 1 network interface, and the module exchanges cyclic data through the EtherNet/IP protocol while operating as an adapter. Electrical insulation meets overvoltage category II, allowing the module to tolerate typical AC mains transients. The housing has an IP20 protection rating, offering protection against accidental finger contact while requiring enclosure mounting where liquids may be present. A conformal protective coating covers the printed circuit board to guard its electronics against moisture and airborne contaminants. Parameter sets can be adjusted with DTM configuration tools in Automation Studio, simplifying device setup and network integration.
The enclosure withstands shocks up to 15 g without signal loss, supporting operation in mobile machines and other equipment exposed to sudden mechanical movement. It also operates under sinusoidal vibration of 1 g across its supported frequency range. Field wiring connects to a 12-pin spring terminal strip, which provides secure conductor retention without requiring screw terminals. The plug includes keying for 24 VDC supply rails, helping prevent an incompatible higher voltage from being connected accidentally. The module does not provide local I/O channels because it functions as an interface between the controller and the connected slices. It occupies one backplane slot and allows neighboring X20 terminals to share power and diagnostic information through the backplane connection.
