Product Description:
B&R Automation developed the X20cIF1041-1, a network interface module that belongs to the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Installed on an X20 controller rack, the unit serves as a fieldbus head that orchestrates distributed nodes over a dedicated CAN segment. By assuming the controller role on that bus, it lets a PLC exchange cyclic and acyclic data with remote sensors, valves, and drives, thereby simplifying wiring and cycle-time planning in industrial automation cells.
Functionally, the module operates as a Master and therefore initiates every telegram on the line. It communicates through CANopen, providing compliance with CiA device profiles. Only a single backplane slot is required because the board presents 1 galvanically isolated interface, keeping addressing straightforward. DTM configuration is supported, so parameterization can be handled from any FDT container. Cabinet installation is expected; its protection rating is IP20, and the overvoltage category is II, which matches low-voltage building services. A conformal protective coating shields the circuitry, and the design tolerates operation with condensation. The module does not support hot swapping, so power must be removed before the carrier is exchanged.
Continuous vibration up to 1 g and shocks reaching 15 g are permissible without data loss, allowing deployment on machinery that experiences moderate dynamic loading from indexing tables, transfer systems, or repetitive motion. Reliable performance is maintained up to an altitude of 2000 m, so the module can operate in most inland facilities without derating of the fieldbus interface or changes to normal cabinet installation practice. The module tolerates relative humidity up to 100% RH, and this capability works with the protective coating and condensation tolerance already noted for enclosed control cabinets in damp process areas.
