Product Description:
The X20cDO8332 is a digital output module manufactured by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Mounted alongside other slices on an X20 backplane, it acts as the switching interface between a central PLC and low-voltage field actuators. By providing sourcing outputs instead of sinking outputs, the module supplies voltage to loads such as pneumatic valves, contactors, and status lamps, enabling straightforward wiring and consistent polarity throughout the control panel.
The module offers 8 individually controlled channels. Each channel delivers up to 2 A of load current at a nominal output voltage of 24 VDC, so compact electromechanical devices can be driven directly without additional amplifiers. Because the outputs are the sourcing type, the positive rail is switched while the common negative remains tied to system ground; this arrangement simplifies diagnostic measurements. Safe operation is supported by an overvoltage category II design and a protection class of IP20, which provides finger-safe terminals for cabinet installation. Power for the field side is supplied directly to the module through a dedicated spring clamp, minimizing voltage drop across neighboring slices. Horizontal rack layouts can operate at temperatures up to 60 °C, while vertical installations should be limited to 50 °C to maintain semiconductor reliability.
The module remains functional at temperatures down to -25 °C, permitting startup in cold rooms or outdoor enclosures. It supports operation at altitudes up to 2000 m above sea level without derating. Full functionality continues at 100% condensing humidity when conformal-coated carriers are used. The module has a shock tolerance of 15 g, allowing it to withstand impacts that may occur within industrial control panels. It also has a vibration endurance of 1 g, helping it tolerate continuous machine oscillations in packaging, material-handling, and mobile equipment. These operating limits support installation across a broad range of plant conditions without requiring changes to the module’s basic wiring arrangement.
