Product Description:
The X20cDIF371 is a discrete input module manufactured by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Installed on the X20 backplane beside a bus controller, it contributes digital status data to a PLC or IPC over the selected fieldbus. The module accepts 24 V sensor signals and forwards their on/off states, allowing machine builders to concentrate wiring for limit switches, photoelectric sensors, and relay contacts at a single node.
This module provides 16 digital inputs that share a common reference through a sink input circuit, so external devices must source current into the card. Each channel is designed for a nominal supply of 24 VDC, and the power domain is rated for Overvoltage Category II to match typical control-cabinet distribution. Horizontal mounting permits operation from -25 °C up to 60 °C. When mounted vertically, the upper temperature limit is 50 °C because convection cooling is reduced. The housing carries an IP20 protection rating, so the module must be placed inside an enclosure that prevents accidental finger contact and the entry of foreign objects larger than 12.5 mm.
The module can operate continuously at elevations up to 2000 m above sea level and tolerate ambient moisture up to 100% relative humidity during condensing operation. Mechanical durability includes resistance to shocks of 15 g and steady-state vibration of 1 g, supporting operation on moving gantries or press frames. A conformal protective coating is applied to the internal circuitry to guard against conductive dust and corrosive atmospheres. This coating also protects the electronics during temperature cycling and exposure to humid industrial conditions. The module can therefore be installed in applications subject to condensation, spray washdown, or transport vibration when it is housed in a suitable protective enclosure.
