Product Description:
The X20cBM33 is a bus module produced by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. As a bus module, it forms the mechanical and electrical backbone that lets individual X20 slices share power and fieldbus communication. This arrangement allows controllers to gather distributed sensor data or actuate loads without separate wiring hubs. When the unit is inserted at the left end of an I/O node, it establishes the common backplane needed for safe, deterministic communication among the attached slices. Its modular format also supports compact control cabinet layouts by combining the electrical connection and physical mounting functions in one component.
For thermal management, the unit tolerates ambient temperatures from -25 to 60 °C when mounted horizontally and from -25 to 50 °C when installed vertically. These temperature ranges allow the mounting orientation to be selected according to the available cabinet space and airflow. Condensing operation is allowed, so brief humidity peaks do not require the system to be shut down, but the module must not be installed in areas containing corrosive gases. The module has a shock resistance of 15 g and a vibration limit of 1 g, making it suitable for typical factory-floor impacts and continuous machine-frame oscillations. It can operate at elevations from 0 to 2000 m, covering most industrial installation locations without altitude-related restrictions.
An ingress protection rating of IP20 means the housing prevents finger contact with internal components but requires an enclosure where dust or liquid exposure may occur. The power connection meets overvoltage category II, making it suitable for protected circuits supplied through upstream distribution equipment. The internal I/O supply passes through the module to downstream slices without additional voltage regulation. The backplane connector supports up to 50 mating cycles while providing a repeatable connection between the bus module and attached components. The unit pairs directly with X20 SafeIO Modules, allowing safety-rated inputs and outputs to operate on the same bus segment. Deterministic communication timing supports coordinated transfer of standard and safety-related I/O data within the node.
