Product Description:
The X20cAO4622 analog output module is produced by B&R Automation for use within the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It occupies a single slot in a remote I/O node and translates numerical setpoints from a PLC into precise current or voltage levels. Through this function, the device allows pumps, drives, proportional valves, and other analog-controlled actuators to be manipulated directly from the main control program. Because the conversion takes place at the I/O node, the controller can issue analog commands close to the field wiring, which helps keep cabinet layouts orderly and reduces the need for separate local conditioning hardware.
The module provides 4 separately configurable analog channels. Independent channel setup lets one module serve mixed field devices that require different signal types on the same station. Each channel uses a 13-bit digital-to-analog converter, dividing the full output span into 8192 discrete steps for accurate adjustment of process variables. For current-loop applications, the outputs can be set to 0 to 20 mA / 4 to 20 mA, covering both standard unipolar signaling and live-zero operation. Applications that need a bipolar reference can use the ±10 V range. The hardware is approved for installations that meet Overvoltage Category II, so it is intended for circuits downstream of the facility's main switchgear. A protective coating on the circuit board helps resist corrosive atmospheres, and the module remains functional at 100% condensing humidity.
The housing clips onto a TH35-7.5 DIN rail and remains secure while the machine frame vibrates continuously at 1 g. It can withstand shock loads up to 15 g without permanent output deviation. Operation is permitted up to 2000 m above sea level, which supports use in elevated facilities without recalibration. The front panel is rated IP20, so it provides touch-safe protection but still requires an enclosure in areas exposed to moisture or splash. The rail-mounted housing also supports quick integration into modular control cabinets where adjacent I/O slices share the same backplane and wiring approach.
