Product Description:
The X20CAI4622 analog input module is produced by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input/Output Modules series. As an analog input module, it converts field-level voltage or current signals into digital data that a controller can process, allowing distributed I/O nodes to collect process variables such as pressure, temperature, or flow. The module installs on the X20 backplane and relies on the series’ fieldbus interface, allowing measurement channels to be placed close to sensors while minimizing wiring runs in industrial automation systems.
This module offers four differential input channels, each digitized by a converter with 13-bit resolution. Each channel can be configured for either 0 to 20 mA or 4 to 20 mA current loops. A channel can also use a bipolar voltage range of ±10 V when a sensor provides voltage feedback. Conversion accuracy is supported by galvanic separation from the system bus and automatic scaling routines that map raw counts to usable measurement units. The module can process signals from multiple instruments without requiring additional analog input cards. The device is classified as Overvoltage Category II and has an IP20 housing, so it is intended for installation inside a protected control cabinet.
The X20CAI4622 tolerates ambient temperatures from -25 to 60 °C when mounted horizontally and temperatures up to 50 °C when mounted vertically, enabling operation in both unheated enclosures and temperature-controlled panels. Continuous operation in atmospheres with condensation is permitted at 100% RH. The module has a shock limit of 15 g and a vibration rating of 1 g, allowing it to maintain stable measurements on machinery frames and mobile equipment. Its operating altitude extends from sea level to 2,000 m, supporting consistent conversion performance at most industrial sites. Horizontal and vertical mounting limits should be considered when arranging cabinet airflow and positioning the module near other heat-producing equipment.
