Product Description:
B & R Automation’s X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series includes the X20CA0E61.00500, an Ethernet patch cable intended for linking distributed I/O slices, controllers, and network infrastructure inside control cabinets and on machines. The preassembled RJ45-to-RJ45 line serves as a plug-and-play medium for high-speed fieldbus segments, allowing deterministic communication without custom terminations. It is suited for short cabinet interconnects between switches, PLC hardware, and remote I/O nodes where consistent pinout and dependable shielding are required. By matching the electrical and mechanical constraints of X20 modules, this cordset supports clean routing and stable signal transfer across automated production zones.
The cable uses Category 5 twisted-pair geometry and impedance that support Fast and Gigabit Ethernet. Its outer diameter of 6.7 mm provides abrasion protection while remaining flexible for routing through cable ducts and around cabinet hardware. Eight conductors are arranged as 4 × 2 × 0.14 mm² tinned-copper 26/7 AWG strands, and their resistance is limited to ≤145 Ω/km to reduce loss over longer runs. A braid and foil provide 85% shield coverage, which helps suppress interference from nearby drives, relays, and power wiring. This shielding allows the line to maintain data rates of 10/100/1000 Mbit/s in electrically noisy plant environments.
Production trimming is held to a +0.04 m length window, and the cable mass of 0.058 kg/m helps keep moving cable loads low in guided installations. The polyethylene wire insulation has an insulation resistance of 5 GΩ/km at 20 °C, which helps limit leakage current during normal operation and supports stable signal quality. For electrical duty, the conductor pair is rated for 125 V operating potential and withstands 1000 V between wire-to-wire and wire-to-shield paths during dielectric testing. These electrical properties support use on links that carry device data, diagnostics, and time-sensitive motion communication. The assembly is also suitable for modular machine sections where compact Ethernet cabling must tolerate repeated routing inside enclosed panels.
