Product Description:

B & R Automation’s X20BM23 is a power supply bus module in the X20 Fieldbus Input/Output Modules series. Installed at the left edge of an X20 safety group, it delivers internal supply voltage and forms the electrical backbone for connected SafeIO cards. The module distributes field and logic power while maintaining the galvanic isolation required for deterministic emergency-stop behavior in industrial automation cells. It occupies minimal DIN-rail space and connects through a rear comb connector, making it a compact component for modular machine designs.

As a bus element, the X20BM23 draws only 0.13 W from the backplane, so the thermal load in densely packed cabinets remains low. Internal circuitry supports a maximum group fuse rating of 10 A, which limits the feeder current permitted across the segment. The housing has an IP20 protection rating suitable for installation inside finger-safe control panels. Its insulation system is designed for overvoltage category II, as commonly required in machine-level control boards. When the carrier is removed, the I/O power path is interrupted to the left, preventing unintended energizing of connected SafeIO modules on that side. The module mates exclusively with X20 SafeIO power supply modules and fastens to an EN 60715 (TH35-7.5) top-hat rail. A 10 cm rail screw interval provides mechanical retention, while integrated tie points accept cable ties measuring 4.0 mm wide and 1.2 mm thick for field-wiring strain relief.

The module tolerates peak shock loads of 15 g and continuous vibration levels up to 1 g, helping the assembly remain seated on its rail in mobile or high-speed equipment. During a fault request from the safety controller, the output lines transition to the configured safe condition of a low state or cutoff, allowing actuators to de-energize predictably. The carrier provides backplane connectors for 3 submodules, allowing safe input, safe output, and auxiliary power cards to occupy one protected segment without requiring additional rail space.
