The X20BM15-UPS is a fieldbus interface module produced by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It sits on the backplane of an X20 slice stack and conveys decentralized sensor or actuator data to the system bus, allowing controllers to collect I/O signals over distributed machine segments. By serving as the bridge between the hot-swappable electronics and the power segment, the module helps implement compact, DIN-rail-mounted automation nodes without external wiring hubs.
The module operates from a nominal system supply of 24 VDC, so it can share the same low-voltage rail that powers adjacent electronic cards. Internal consumption is only 0.13 W, which keeps heat dissipation minimal and reduces enclosure ventilation demands. A protection category of IP20 indicates that the housing prevents accidental finger contact with live parts, but it is intended for cabinet installation rather than washdown areas. Hardware clips permit installation in either horizontal or vertical positions, and this horizontal or vertical mounting orientation offers flexibility when cabinet space is constrained. The output path on the integrated bushing can conduct up to 10 A, allowing the module to pass load current to downstream terminals without auxiliary jumpers.
Configuration uses a dual-mode addressing scheme, so the station number can be set locally or assigned by a higher-level master through a manual or automatic addressing mode. Physical selection is performed with front-panel rotary and slide elements that provide x16/x1 node switches, letting the address be set in values up to 255. Module spacing on the carrier rail follows a 12.5+0.2 mm pitch, which maintains clearance for convection and connector engagement. For power distribution, the I/O supply is connected through, meaning the 24 V and 0 V lines enter on one side of the slice and exit on the other so adjacent modules receive uninterrupted feed without separate jumpers.
