The X20BC008U is a bus controller supplied by B & R Automation within the X20 Fieldbus I/O Modules series. Installed at the left edge of an X20 I/O node, the unit manages communication between the local backplane and an external controller or SCADA host. It processes telegrams and forwards diagnostic flags, enabling deterministic data exchange for motion, safety, and process control tasks in industrial automation lines. This placement also establishes the communication entry point for the connected input and output modules without requiring a separate gateway at each slice.
Operating from a 24 VDC supply, the module draws logic power directly from the system rail. It offers 1 independent interface that uses OPC UA over Ethernet, allowing process variables to be published through a secure, object-oriented protocol. The media connection uses an RJ45 port and requires CAT5 SFTP cabling to maintain electromagnetic shielding along the plant floor. Because Auto Configuration is enabled, the controller can identify itself to the network without manual parameter entry, while Full Configuration remains available for advanced mapping.
