B & R Automation manufactures the X20BC0043-10 as part of the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. The module acts as a CANopen bus controller that links the I/O slices of an X20 station with the higher-level PLC, allowing deterministic exchange of digital and analog process signals across the network. This arrangement lets the controller read remote field signals and send output commands through a single networked node instead of separate point-to-point wiring. It is suited to distributed I/O stations where networked communication is preferred over hardwired signal runs across the machine.
Communication is handled through one CANopen interface, and node parameters can be generated through automatic configuration, which removes the need for manual addressing. For applications that require manual parameter selection, the firmware also allows full configuration through service data objects. Automation Studio V4.3 or later is required to program the device, and this version uses the 0-Standard default function model for object dictionary entries. The housing has an IP20 protection rating, so the module is intended for use in a dry, dust-protected control cabinet that meets Overvoltage Category II. A keyed 24 VDC supply terminal and a 12-pin pluggable block help keep system voltage and sensor power on the correct connections.
The carrier footprint measures 37.5 mm in width, 99 mm in height, and 75 mm in depth, matching the spacing used by other X20 slices.
