Product Description:
The X20BC0043 is a fieldbus controller module manufactured by B & R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Installed on the rightmost edge of an X20 slice, the unit establishes network connectivity so that I/O cards on the same backplane can be addressed by a primary PLC. It forwards process data over a deterministic bus while also distributing power and diagnostic messaging to neighboring modules in packaging, material-handling, and assembly equipment. Because the controller sits at the end of the slice, it serves as the interface between local backplane traffic and the external control network. This arrangement helps keep the station compact and lets multiple slices operate as one coordinated I/O node.
The module operates from a field supply of 24 VDC. Internally, it communicates with adjacent slices through the X20 backplane bus called X2X Link, and it publishes cyclic process variables to the higher-level network by using CANopen. The X2X refresh schedule supports 30 modules before the scan restarts, which helps maintain predictable update timing across the station. The housing is 37.5 mm wide and 75 mm deep, allowing dense mounting inside shallow control panels, and it mounts on a standard EN 60715 TH35-7.5 DIN rail. This separation of internal and external communication helps the controller handle station data exchange without requiring a separate network interface on each slice.
The unit stands 99 mm high and has exactly 1 communication interface, which can simplify wiring in smaller machines. It can be identified in either Automatic or Full configuration mode, allowing the host system to use default parameters or complete manual parameter mapping as needed. Installation clearances are 35 mm above, 35 mm below, and 10 mm on each side so air can circulate and connectors remain accessible. The molded housing and rail latch support stable placement on the panel and leave room for orderly cable routing at the edge of the station. That layout is useful in enclosures where panel depth is limited and side access must remain unobstructed.
