Product Description:
The X20BB80 is a bus base component in the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series produced by B&R Automation. It provides the mechanical and electrical backplane for stacking digital or analog I/O slices, allowing distributed signal acquisition to be wired back to a central controller through a single fieldbus connector. By integrating power distribution and data routing in one carrier, the unit simplifies panel layouts and allows individual I/O modules to be installed or removed without disturbing adjacent channels.
The carrier is energized from a system supply of 24 VDC, and its internal logic consumes only 0.25 W of bus power, minimizing heat inside densely packed cabinets. A housing classified to IP20 shields live conductors from accidental contact when the stack is fully assembled. Temperature limits differ with orientation: in horizontal mounting the permissible range is -25 to 60 °C, while vertical installations must stay within -25 to 50 °C. Either orientation is allowed, so the base can be aligned with airflow or space constraints. End covers X20AC0SL1 and X20AC0SR1 are supplied to terminate the stack mechanically and complete the protective enclosure.
For elevated sites, the module operates up to 4000 m, and cooling capacity should be reduced by 0.5 °C/100 m above sea level. Reliable service is maintained between 5 to 95% non-condensing humidity, which supports use in humid plant areas if condensation is prevented. The backplane can conduct up to 10 A, so high-current sensor power or actuator feed lines may be daisy-chained through the base. A pitch of 37.5 + 0.2 mm sets uniform spacing for stacked modules, and storage or transport temperatures from -40 to 85 °C allow the unit to withstand warehouse staging and shipment.
