Product Description:
The X20BB67 is manufactured by B&R Automation and is part of the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Classified as a bus module, it anchors an X20 slice by providing both power distribution and fieldbus access to the connected I/O electronics. Within an industrial automation rack, it links decentralized sensors and actuators to the controlling PLC, allowing data exchange through the series’ CAN-based X2X backplane while occupying minimal cabinet depth.
The module is energized from a nominal 24 VDC field supply, so it can share common control voltages with standard 24 V systems. A protection class of IP20 limits its use to closed enclosures but permits tool-free wiring inside a cabinet. Internal losses are restricted to 0.94 W, which helps reduce heat buildup on densely packed DIN rails. Communication on the fieldbus side occurs through one CAN bus connection; this port already carries an integrated CAN terminator, eliminating external resistors when the slice sits at the end of a segment. One slot for an interface module is available for extension, and all conductors remain touch-safe because end cover plates are shipped with the unit.
The output contacts carried through the backplane may be loaded up to 10 A, which matches the current demand of typical relay or valve islands that can sit downstream. Mechanical spacing inside an X20 row is fixed by a pitch of 62.5 +0.2 mm, ensuring clearance for both horizontal and vertical mounting orientations. For serial service tasks, the slice offers one RS-232 connection, and network impedance can still be adapted after installation through a switchable terminator control. No internal I/O channels are integrated, and actuator dissipation is zero. The module relies on adjoining I/O terminals for signal processing while handling backplane power and communication routing.
