The X20BB47 is a backplane bus module produced by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Installed at the edge of an X20 slice, it links powered terminal blocks to field controllers and distributes supply and communication lines to subsequent I/O modules, allowing mixed signal groups on the same DIN rail. In industrial automation systems it forms the electrical and mechanical backbone that ties digital or analog nodes to the higher-level PLC over fieldbus networks.
This module is energized from a control cabinet source rated at 24 VDC, and its internal electronics draw only 0.56 W, minimizing heat accumulation in densely packed racks. Two mezzanine connectors provide 2 interface slots so that neighboring I/O slices can pass both power and data without extra wiring. For distributed motion or sensor clusters the board exposes 1 CAN bus port; an integrated resistor terminates the segment when the unit is at the physical end of the trunk. Legacy serial diagnostics are supported by 1 RS232 port, giving installers a direct channel for firmware or parameter access without occupying the fieldbus.
