Product Description:

The X20ATB312 is a temperature input module produced by B&R Automation in the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Designed for distributed control cabinets, the module acquires resistive sensor data from industrial processes and forwards it through the X20 backplane to the controller. Its role in automation lines is to translate precision resistance measurements from platinum sensing elements into digital values that can be used by the machine logic.

Four differential input channels allow the module to monitor up to 4 temperature points on a single slice. Each channel uses the Resistance measurement method, so thermocouple linearization is not required. The preferred sensing element is a Pt100, and its resistance curve is mapped internally for direct temperature acquisition. Conversion granularity reaches 0.01 °C, giving high resolution for slow-changing thermal applications such as reactor jackets or environmental chambers. Push-in spring terminals form the Push-In connector system, allowing toolless wiring and faster installation. Internally, the module is divided into three galvanically separated submodules, and this layout isolates field potentials while supporting an overvoltage category II rating for standard low-voltage cabinets.

The I/O slice maintains communication timing through NetTime support, so the controller can time-stamp incoming samples deterministically. Operation is permitted up to an elevation of 2000 m, and the module also withstands shock loads up to 15 g without interrupting normal use. A protection level of IP20 confirms that live parts are finger-safe when the unit is installed inside a closed rack. Relative humidity can reach 95% non-condensing during operation. The module also supports class II measurement accuracy during normal service conditions.
