Product Description:
The X20AP3111 is an electrical measurement module manufactured by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input/Output Modules series. Designed for mounting beside standard I/O slices, it captures real-time voltage and current data from three-phase systems and delivers processed results to the controller over the X20 backplane. Within an automation cell, the device tracks energy flows, supports power quality analysis, and enables load management routines without requiring additional standalone meters.
This module handles industrial supply levels directly. It accepts phase-to-phase voltages up to 480 VAC on its voltage channels and samples line current through inputs rated at 20 mA AC. There are 4 current paths and 3 voltage paths, allowing simultaneous monitoring of all conductors in a three-phase network. Internal sampling is synchronized to mains frequencies of 50/60 Hz, and both RMS calculation and crest detection are performed onboard. The module also derives active power, reactive power, apparent power, and cumulative energy, reducing the processing load on the PLC. A keying voltage of 240 V prevents installation on incorrect rails, while the overvoltage category II design protects internal circuitry against moderate transients.
The housing carries a protection rating of IP20, indicating finger-safe terminals for use in enclosed control panels. Mechanical durability is verified for shocks up to 15 g and continuous vibration of 1 g, allowing the module to operate reliably on moving machinery. The integrated Nettime function forwards time-stamped data with submillisecond alignment, supporting synchronized diagnostics across distributed nodes. Its resistance to vibration and shock helps preserve measurement stability during normal factory operation. The category II design is suitable for the moderate transient conditions typically encountered inside industrial control cabinets.
