Product Description:
The X20AO4622/PL3 is an analog output module produced by B&R Automation as part of the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It adds four independent current or voltage channels to decentralized I/O stations, allowing a controller to send reference signals to actuators, valves, or drives without a separate signal conditioner. Designed for DIN-rail systems, the module converts digital commands from the bus into proportional analog levels for industrial automation tasks such as process dosing, valve positioning, and speed setting. This arrangement fits compact distributed stations where multiple signal types must be handled in a small control cabinet.
The module provides 4 analog output channels, enabling one slice to drive several field devices. Each channel uses a 13-bit D/A converter, giving 8192 discrete steps for fine setpoint control. Selectable ranges include ±10 V for bipolar drives and 0 to 20 mA for standard current loops. Cabinet space is conserved by an overall height of 99 mm and a 12.5 mm pitch on the rail. A wire sleeve capacity of 2 × 0.75 mm² supports common conductor sizes, and the electronics operate from -25 °C to 60 °C when mounted horizontally.
Mechanical integration is flexible because the housing supports horizontal, vertical, oblique, or face-up mounting, letting designers orient the slice to suit airflow or wiring direction. Standard fastening to an EN 60715 (TH35-7.5) rail speeds installation and helps keep the module stable under vibration. Functional altitude spans 0 to 2000 m, so the module can be used in most plant elevations without derating. Ambient temperatures for vertical mounting range from -25 °C to 50 °C, and this placement flexibility helps when neighboring slices, power supplies, or terminal blocks limit cable routing space.
