Product Description:
The X20AO4622 is an analog output module produced by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Installed on the system backplane, it converts digital control data into standardized voltage or current signals so that drives, valves, or process transmitters can be actuated directly from the controller without additional interface hardware. In distributed automation nodes, this four-channel unit provides deterministic analog output while sharing mechanical, power, and communication infrastructure with other X20 modules. Because it mounts directly within an X20 station, it supports compact cabinet layouts and keeps signal distribution integrated with the rest of the control platform.
The module consumes only 0.01 W of bus power, which helps minimize thermal load inside compact enclosures. Each channel completes a digital-to-analog conversion in 300 µs, and the output settles within 500 µs, keeping loop delays short during fast control updates. Current signals are generated at 12-bit resolution, while voltage mode offers matching granularity for consistent scaling across both output types. A digital filter with a cutoff frequency of 10 kHz suppresses switching noise for cleaner signal reconstruction, and galvanic separation toward the system bus is rated at 500 Veff to block ground loops between field wiring and the controller rack. Gain accuracy remains tightly controlled in both current and voltage operation, which supports stable command values at the connected load.
Channel count is fixed at 4, and every output is short-circuit proof with an internal clamp that limits fault current to ±40 mA. If one channel encounters a fault, the protection circuit limits the disturbance without affecting adjacent outputs. In voltage mode, the connected load must be at least 1 kΩ to protect field instruments and maintain proper operation. The housing meets the IP20 protection rating, so the module is intended for closed electrical enclosures with controlled airflow. Internal bus isolation is provided, and overall linearity remains below <0.007% for predictable scaling across the full output range.
