Product Description:
The X20AO2437 is an analog output module produced by B&R Automation within the X20 fieldbus input/output modules series. Designed for distributed control architectures, the module converts digital setpoints from a controller into precise current signals for valves, positioners, and variable-speed drives on the plant floor. When installed on the X20 backplane, it lets the control system deliver analog current commands directly at the I/O station instead of relying on separate external signal conditioners. Because the signal is generated at the node, controller-side analog wiring can be reduced and cabinet layouts can stay more compact.
This module provides 2 analog outputs, and each output uses a 16-bit converter for fine signal resolution. The fine step resolution supports smooth setpoint changes for actuators that respond to small current differences during operation. Each channel is single-channel galvanically isolated, which helps prevent ground loops between field devices and the controller electronics. The output stage can be configured for 4–20 mA / 0–20 mA / 0–24 mA, so the module can serve standard process loops as well as extended current ranges used for diagnostics or special control tasks. Electrical protection is supported by an IP20 housing and by a design tested for Overvoltage Category II distribution circuits. This makes the module suitable for common current-loop equipment installed beside other control components in a compact I/O assembly.
The module tolerates ambient operation from -25 to 60 °C when the backplane is mounted horizontally, and vertical installation uses a lower upper temperature limit because convection conditions change inside the enclosure. It withstands 15 g of shock and 1 g of vibration, which helps it remain suitable for panels installed on moving machinery or equipment with repeated motion. Internal conformal coatings permit operation in atmospheres up to 95 % non-condensing humidity, reducing the effect of moisture on exposed electronics. Continuous service is permitted from 0 to 2000 m elevation without derating of converter accuracy, which supports installation across a wide range of industrial sites.
