Product Description:
B & R Automation's X20AI4322 is an analog input module from the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It attaches to the backplane of a distributed I/O node and converts industrial current loops into data words that a controller can process. The module provides a compact way to bring sensor information such as temperature, flow, or pressure into an automation system, supporting high-density signal acquisition without local signal conditioning hardware.
The module accepts 4 differential analog channels, each digitized with a 12-bit converter that yields 4096 discrete steps for process resolution. Loop currents within 0 to 20 mA or 4 to 20 mA are supported, letting the hardware accommodate both live-zero and traditional span transmitters. A maximum horizontal mounting temperature of 60 °C sets the upper thermal limit when the carrier is installed flat inside a cabinet, helping protect component life. The housing carries an IP20 rating, so it prevents fingertip contact with energized parts while relying on the cabinet for further sealing. Installation falls under overvoltage category II, indicating connection only to lightly insulated secondary circuits.
In vertical orientation the allowable ambient falls to 50 °C, a derating that manages natural convection paths around the PCB. Operation is permissible down to –25 °C, enabling cold-start behavior in unheated enclosures. The device remains functional in humidity up to 95% non-condensing, so moisture swings inside machinery rooms do not interrupt signal integrity, and it withstands continuous service up to 2000 m above sea level without modification. Mechanical durability is addressed by 1 g vibration resistance during transport and by a 15 g shock limit for short impacts, ensuring the module stays seated on the carrier even in mobile or press-line applications.
