Product Description:
The X20AI2632 analog input module is produced by B&R Automation and is part of the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Within an automation rack, it converts low-level process signals into numerical values that a controller can evaluate for closed-loop regulation. The device is intended for distributed installations where compact size, backplane bus connectivity, and electrical isolation are required to capture sensor feedback without introducing ground loops. It is suitable for monitoring transmitters and other analog sources that must be read accurately across separate machine sections.
The module offers 2 differential channels, each presenting a 20 MΩ input impedance when set for voltage mode so transducers are not loaded. For current mode, the burden remains below 400 Ω, keeping loop compliance intact. A single conversion completes in 50 µs, and the Σ-Δ converter has voltage and current least-significant bits of 305.176 µV and 610.352 nA, respectively. The selectable span reaches ±30 V, enabling direct connection to many industrial transmitters without external dividers. These values support precise monitoring tasks in systems that need both fast response and fine input granularity. Its differential topology rejects line-borne interference, and the internal digital filter reduces processing demands on the main CPU.
Electrical safety and signal integrity are reinforced by 500 Veff channel-to-bus insulation, allowing the measurement side to float within a ±12 V common-mode window. An analog pre-filter with a cutoff at 10 kHz attenuates high-frequency noise before the converter stage, while input clamps tolerate peaks up to ±50 mA during current measurements. The isolation barrier helps separate field-side analog signals from the backplane electronics. The housing carries an IP20 rating for cabinet-mounted environments and draws only 0.01 W from the system bus plus 1.2 W of internal I/O supply, minimizing heat dissipation on densely populated rail assemblies.
