Product Description:
The X20AI2622 is an analog input module from B&R Automation that belongs to the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. By digitizing sensor signals and passing them to the controller over the system backplane, it completes the data path needed for current and voltage monitoring on automated machinery, packaging lines, and process skids. Its narrow housing and direct bus coupling let users expand analog capacity without altering cabinet depth, and the backplane connection keeps the module integrated with the control station without requiring a separate communication interface.
Two independent channels accept differential signals, and the module provides 2 analog inputs. A sigma-delta converter samples each channel at 13-bit resolution, giving the controller enough detail for routine measurement and regulation tasks. When wired for current, the front terminals cover a span of 0-20 mA, while a secondary range of 4-20 mA supports live-zero diagnostics. For voltage sources, the same terminals accommodate ±10 V, which allows quick changeover between sensor types. Internal electronics draw 0.13 W from the local bus module, 0.01 W of control-side bus power, and another 0.8 W from the internal I/O rail to operate the conversion circuitry. An overvoltage rating of Category II helps the module tolerate common industrial transients.
During operation, the module dissipates 0.94 W, which helps simplify thermal planning in densely packed racks. The enclosure carries an IP20 rating, so it is intended for installation inside a protected control cabinet rather than direct exposure on the machine. Mechanical durability meets plant-floor demands; the design withstands vibration levels of 1 g and shocks up to 15 g without losing signal integrity. Environmental limits extend to a maximum operating humidity of 95% non-condensing, allowing use in areas where humid air is present but moisture does not collect on internal parts. Condensation must be avoided during operation to protect measurement stability.
