Product Description:
The X20AI2437 is an analog input module manufactured by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It digitizes process current signals and forwards the resulting values to the PLC so control logic can react without relying on separate signal converters or interface cards. The module fits into distributed I/O stations, where it supports stable data collection for process supervision, coordinated motion, and plant utility monitoring across a machine or line. This makes it suitable for applications that need repeatable acquisition from current-based instrumentation without adding unnecessary signal-conditioning modules.
Each input accepts a current span of 4 to 20 mA, permitting direct wiring of loop-powered transmitters without extra scaling hardware. The conversion circuitry samples these signals with 16-bit resolution, giving the controller fine measurement granularity for setpoint tracking, alarm handling, and trend monitoring. There are 2 channels on the module, and each channel uses Single-Channel Galvanic isolation to limit the effect of ground potential differences between field wiring and the backplane. Because the module provides its Own Sensor Supply, separate external excitation wiring is not required for compatible sensors. This arrangement helps simplify cabinet wiring and keeps measurement signals more stable in electrically noisy environments.
For panel layouts with different airflow patterns, the module supports horizontal mounting temperatures from -25 to 60 °C and vertical mounting temperatures up to -25 to 50 °C. Reliable operation is also permitted at elevations from 0 to 2000 m, which suits sites from sea level to moderate altitude. Acquired values can be aligned by the NetTime synchronization function, allowing time-related events from different nodes to be compared more accurately in the control system. That synchronized sampling behavior is useful when a machine needs to relate analog measurements to motion states, sequence events, or changes occurring elsewhere on the network.
