Product Description:
The X20AI2322 analog input module is manufactured by B&R Automation and belongs to the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Mounted on a system bus alongside digital and motion slices, this unit focuses on bringing process-current information into the PLC. By turning milliamp signals into scaled integers, it allows a controller to follow pressures, flow rates, or temperature transmitter outputs in real time. The module expands decentralized I/O stations where compact density and field wiring segregation are required.
Its sigma-delta converter offers a resolution of 12-bit, which divides the usable span into 4096 counts for each update. The measurable current span can be selected between 0 to 20 mA / 4 to 20 mA, so the same slice supports live-zero and standard industrial loops without external shunts. The module has 2 independent channels that share the internal A/D resource, giving a balanced trade-off between channel density and sampling overhead. With an enclosure protection rating of IP20, the module is intended for installation inside a cabinet where contact with live parts is limited, but no sealing against washdown is required. It is assigned to overvoltage category II, indicating that its input terminals withstand the transient levels normally found in fixed-installation control cabinets powered from the secondary side of the mains.
The module tolerates shock up to 15 g and vibration up to 1 g, allowing the slice to remain electrically stable on moving machinery frames or high-traffic conveyors. Because it is an Analog Input Module, no internal excitation is provided; instead, the field devices supply the loop energy that the converter samples. When paired with other X20 slices, the module forms a unified node that can be diagnosed through the control system from B&R Automation without changing the application code.
