Designed for voltage-based sensing, the unit offers two differential input channels that sit directly on the backplane of an X20 node. By digitizing field voltages and forwarding the results across the real-time bus, it supplies a controller with fast, noise-immune analog data needed for closed-loop tasks.
Each channel accepts an input range of ±10 V, allowing sensors or transmitters to swing symmetrically around ground while staying within the converter limits. A high input resistance of 20 MΩ prevents the module from loading low-power sources, so signal accuracy is preserved. The analog front end feeds a sigma-delta converter that provides ±15-bit resolution, which supports fine adjustment during calibration. After conversion, results are streamed at a data output rate of 10 000 samples/s, which is fast enough to follow dynamic test stands or vibration studies. Overall span fidelity is kept within a gain error of just 0.013%, minimizing scaling corrections inside the controller program.
Signal integrity is further reinforced by a common-mode rejection of 84 dB, letting the differential architecture suppress ground shifts up to the specified ±14 V common-mode window. An internal anti-aliasing filter with a cutoff of 10 kHz aligns with the sampling rate to block higher-frequency noise without adding phase delay. The electronics draw only 0.05 W from the X20 backplane, so thermal rise inside densely populated racks remains low. Dielectric strength between field channels and the bus is verified to 1000 VAC, and an allowable ±30 V overvoltage margin protects against wiring mistakes. The module can source up to 30 mA at 25 V ±2% for external sensors, and nonlinearity stays below 0.003%.
