Product Description:
The X20 BM 33 bus module is produced by B&R Automation and belongs to the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It forms the mechanical and electrical backbone between X20 electronic slices and the DIN rail, distributing fieldbus signals and 24 V system power along the row. Within an automation cell, the module simplifies expansion by letting additional I/O slices clip in without separate wiring or fuse components. It also provides the base interface that keeps each connected slice aligned with the rest of the station.
Supply to the backplane is regulated at 24 VDC, and the module itself draws only 0.13 W, so heat generation inside compact cabinets remains low. Allowed installation altitude reaches 2000 m; beyond that, derating rules apply to maintain creepage distances. Continuous operation is possible in a horizontal orientation up to 60 °C, while relative humidity may rise to 95 % RH provided condensation does not occur. The internal I/O supply is passed through the module, enabling downstream terminals to share the same supply source. A contact load of 10 A passes through the power rails, and a 25 mm pitch positions the module’s latch points so adjacent slices maintain uniform spacing on the rail. Horizontal or vertical mounting can be selected to match the available panel depth.
Thermal limits differ when the assembly is mounted vertically, so the upper ambient threshold is 50 °C. During operation, the housing tolerates air temperatures down to -25 °C, and during storage or transit it can withstand temperatures up to 85 °C when de-energized. The enclosure carries an IP20 rating, indicating protection against touch but no sealing against liquids, so installation inside a cabinet is required. Because the power conductors are routed through rather than terminated, the module keeps wiring effort low and preserves the full current feed for successive I/O units.
