The VSS122R25.071P-000 smart vision sensor is produced by B&R Automation within the VS Smart Sensors series. Designed for machine-vision duties on manufacturing lines, it combines optics, lighting, and a processor in one enclosure, so integrators can add inspection or guidance without an external PC. In automated cells, the unit handles one active vision function, such as code reading or presence verification, directly at the sensor head.

The imaging section records scenes at a native resolution of 5.3 MP, giving enough pixels to resolve small product details. With a capture rate of 43 fps, it supports stable real-time analysis on moderate-speed conveyors. Its optical axis is inclined by 37°, widening the field of view when the device is mounted close to the target. A fixed focal length of 25 mm pairs with an F4 2/3-inch lens to provide consistent depth of field.

Processing is handled by a Cortex A9 i.MX6 running at 800 MHz, and the architecture offers 4 cores so preprocessing, segmentation, and feature extraction can run in parallel.
