The VSS122R21.041P-000 is a smart vision device from the VS Smart Sensors series manufactured by B&R Automation. As a member of the Integrated Machine Vision product range, it combines optics, illumination, and processing in one housing to execute one active vision function directly on the production line. This arrangement removes the need for a separate controller and simplifies installation in automated cells where rapid image evaluation is required.

Image capture and evaluation are handled by a quad-core Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 800 MHz; its 1 MB L2 cache and four cores help maintain deterministic cycle times during preprocessing. The sensor carries 2 GB RAM, allowing multiple regions of interest to be processed without swapping, and it stores frames from its monochrome or color pipeline at the full sensor resolution of 1.3 MP. A maximum throughput of 90 fps lets it follow high-speed conveyors with limited motion blur during continuous inspection.
