The VSS112R31.06DP-000 is a vision device from the VS Smart Sensors series engineered by B & R Automation. Housed in a compact S-mount body, it combines optics, a processor, memory, and multicolored lighting so that inspection, presence detection, or measurement tasks can be executed directly at the sensor. By returning validated results to the controller, the unit streamlines integrated machine vision tasks on assembly lines and packaging machinery.

Processing is handled by a Cortex A9 i.MX6 dual-core CPU that runs at 800 MHz. Those 2 cores share 1 GB of DDR3 RAM and a 512 kB L2 cache, giving the standard variant enough throughput to execute one active vision function without external computing. A global-shutter imager delivers 1.3 MP still images, providing enough spatial resolution for part orientation while keeping data volumes moderate. The product is listed under the Smart Sensor group and sits within B & R's integrated machine vision range, so no separate industrial PC or frame grabber is required. It uses the standard preprocessing variant and is built to handle normal factory vibration levels without additional heat sinks.
