The VSS112R31.062P-000 is a smart vision sensor produced by B & R Automation and assigned to the VS Smart Sensors series. It combines imaging, illumination, and edge processing in a single device. This arrangement allows inspection, presence verification, and alignment tasks to run directly on the sensor head without a separate PC or controller. By handling image-based decisions locally, the unit supports compact machine layouts and keeps vision functions close to the point of detection.

At the heart of this model is a Cortex A9 i.MX6 dual-core processor running at 800 MHz. The processor has 2 cores, so image acquisition and algorithm execution can proceed at the same time. A dedicated L2 cache of 512 kB reduces external memory access, while 1 GB of DDR3 RAM provides space for buffering frames and storing vision parameters. The CMOS imager delivers a native resolution of 1.3 MP, allowing detailed feature capture for part recognition. Even at that resolution, the sensor maintains a frame throughput of 90 fps, which helps it track fast-moving parts with consistent timing. Only one active vision function can run at a time, and that operating limit keeps cycle behavior predictable during repeated machine tasks.

Optically, the device ships with a viewing angle of 23° for a narrow field of view. It uses an S-mount lens with a focal length of 16 mm and an F4 aperture for 2/3-inch formats. Illumination is supplied by an array of 16 LEDs (4 segments with 4 multicolored LEDs each), and the light is directed through LED lens type 3 to produce a narrow beam suited for small target areas. The emitter set can generate R / B / IR / White light, which helps improve contrast on different materials and surface finishes. A polarizing front glass reduces glare, but the design cannot be combined with UV emitters or type 1 LED lenses.
