The VSS112R25.05BP-000 is a smart vision device from B&R Automation's VS Smart Sensors series. It combines optics, onboard processing, and multicolor lighting in one housing for machine-level inspection. The unit performs one active vision function directly on the production line, which reduces system complexity and avoids the need for a separate PC.

A Cortex A9 i.MX6 dual core processor runs the onboard vision routines. The two cores operate at 800 MHz, giving the sensor enough computing headroom for filtering, pattern matching, and fast decision making during automated inspection. The electronics also include 1 GB of DDR3 RAM, which helps buffer image data before pass or fail logic is applied. A global-shutter sensor captures images at 5.3 MP, supporting fine feature detection and reliable 2D code reading.

The optical front end uses a fixed 37° field of view with a factory-mounted 12 mm F4 lens matched to the sensor format. Image acquisition reaches up to 43 fps, which helps balance inspection throughput with motion blur control on moving equipment. Illumination comes from a ring of 16 LEDs behind a standard lens, allowing red, blue, infrared, or white light to be selected for better contrast. The front glass also has an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare from reflective targets.
