The VSS112R24.051P-000 is a smart vision sensor from B&R Automation’s VS Smart Sensors series. It belongs to the Smart Sensor product group within the company’s integrated machine vision range. The device combines optics, illumination, and onboard processing to perform autonomous inspection or guidance tasks directly on production equipment. Its self-contained design helps reduce cabinet hardware and simplifies deployment where separate industrial computers would add wiring, space demands, and overall system complexity unnecessarily.
The embedded computer uses a Cortex A9 i.MX6 dual core processor running at 800 MHz. Its two cores share 512 kB of L2 cache and access 1 GB of RAM for local image handling. This standard preprocessing variant runs one active vision function and reaches 43 fps, which supports real-time evaluation of moving parts without requiring an external PC.
A 12 mm F4 lens for a 2/3-inch format is fitted in the S-mount behind anti-reflective glass. That optical setup provides a 37° field of view suited to medium-sized objects on production lines. Illumination comes from 16 LEDs (4 segments with 4 multicolored LEDs each), allowing red, blue, infrared, or white light selection by segment. The camera records rolling-shutter images at 3.5 MP, and segment intensity can be adjusted to improve contrast on glossy or low-albedo surfaces.
