Within an automation cell, the device captures images, executes a selected vision algorithm, and transmits evaluation results via industrial Ethernet for immediate use by surrounding control equipment.

Computation is handled by a Cortex A9 i.MX6 dual-core processor clocked at 800 MHz. A dedicated 512 kB L2 cache reduces external memory access, while the main memory provides 1 GB of RAM for frame buffers, lookup tables, and temporary data during inspection routines. With these resources, the sensor reaches a continuous throughput of 43 fps, supporting inspections on medium-speed conveyors. The processing setup is the standard variant, matching applications that need one active vision function but not complex multi-tool pipelines. This arrangement helps maintain deterministic timing even when communication stacks occupy processor time.

The optical path uses an 8 mm F4 lens in an S-mount, giving a field angle of 37° when paired with the 1/1.8-inch image circle. A native resolution of 3.5 MP enables sub-millimeter feature detection at moderate working distances, and the plastic front glass carries an anti-reflective coating to limit glare from machine lighting. Illumination is integrated, and a ring of 16 LEDs, arranged as four multicolored segments, can emit red, blue, infrared, or white light so contrast can be tuned to the target material. Network and power are daisy-chained through 2 Powerlink ports, eliminating extra switches inside the cabinet. This model cannot be combined with IR emitters or type 1 LED lenses.
