The VSS112R22.05BP-000 smart sensor from B&R Automation belongs to the VS Smart Sensors series within the integrated machine vision range. It combines optics, lighting, and onboard processing to perform a single inline inspection task without requiring an external controller. That self-contained design helps streamline visual checks on fast production lines while reducing cabinet complexity.
Processing is handled by a Cortex A9 i.MX6 dual-core unit running at 800 MHz, and the shared 512 kB L2 cache supports quick buffer exchange between cores. The sensor includes 1 GB of DDR3 RAM, and its image pipeline supports one active vision function at a time. A resolution of 1.3 MP still delivers 165 fps, which fits rapid conveyor inspection. An S-mount 12 mm F4 lens on a 2/3-inch format supports both area and line modes.
The lighting head is tilted 37° to increase surface contrast during inspection. It uses 16 LEDs arranged in four segments, and each segment can emit R / B / IR / White light for flexible color selection. Plastic front glass with an anti-reflective film protects the array, while the LED lens type 2 optic helps focus light and reduce flare. This version cannot be paired with IR-only diodes or type-1 lenses.
