The VSS112R22.041P-000 is a smart camera manufactured by B&R Automation for the VS Smart Sensors series. Designed for integrated machine vision, it combines optics, lighting, and processing in one S-mount housing. On production lines, it handles one active vision task such as code reading or surface inspection without requiring an external PC.
The CMOS sensor captures images at 1.3 MP, and a global shutter supports sharp imaging at 165 fps for fast-moving parts. An 8 mm F4 lens provides a 37° field of view, giving a practical balance between coverage and geometric distortion on mid-sized targets. Internal processing runs at 800 MHz and works with 1 GB of DDR3 memory, enabling real-time preprocessing such as thresholding, edge detection, and morphology before data is transmitted.
Deterministic communication is handled through 2 × POWERLINK ports, allowing line or ring network layouts within automated equipment. A built-in array of 16 LEDs arranged in quadrants supplies selectable R / B / IR / White illumination so the camera can improve contrast on metals, plastics, and printed marks. The imaging core uses a dual-core architecture, with one core managing acquisition while the other runs the standard preprocessing variant to help maintain low latency when line-sensor functionality is active.
