The VSS112R22.032P-000 smart sensor is built by B&R Automation for the VS Smart Sensors series. It combines camera hardware, optics, lighting, and processing in one sealed S-mount housing for compact machine-vision stations. The unit runs one active vision function, making it well suited for presence checks, code verification, and dimensional inspection on conveyor or robotic cells.
Its optical chain begins with a 1.3 MP CMOS imager that views a 37° horizontal field through a factory-installed 6 mm F3.5 lens. A maximum capture rate of 165 fps reduces motion blur, so fast-moving parts can be imaged clearly without relying on external strobes. Illumination comes from 16 LEDs arranged in four multicolored segments, letting software choose red, blue, infrared, or white light for better contrast on different targets.
Image preprocessing is handled by an onboard processor running at 800 MHz. The processor uses a Cortex A9 i.MX6 dual core architecture, and 1 GB of DDR3 RAM helps buffer frames for evaluation and result handling. The sensor also supports line-sensor operation, so triggering can follow encoder distance instead of time when inspection must track moving web or conveyor travel.
