The VSS112Q31.063P-000 smart vision sensor is built by B & R Automation for the VS Smart Sensors series. Positioned within the Smart Sensor product group of the integrated machine vision range, the device combines optics, lighting, and computation in a single housing. Inside an automated cell, it performs one active vision function, allowing parts to be counted, located, or color-checked without external controllers. Its 23° optical angle supports short working distances on compact machines. This integrated design reduces the need for separate lighting modules and external image-processing hardware.
A dual-core Cortex-A9 i.MX6 handles image preprocessing, and its clock reaches 800 MHz while the architecture exposes 2 cores to the application. The standard variant is equipped with 1 GB of RAM for frame buffering, and the sensor captures images at 1.3 MP resolution. At full resolution, it can sustain 90 fps, giving sufficient temporal granularity for high-speed pick-and-place verification.
