The VSS112Q21.M51P-000 smart sensor is manufactured by B&R Automation for the VS Smart Sensors series. It is designed for integrated machine vision tasks such as part inspection, assembly verification, and robot guidance on automated lines. By combining optics, lighting, and onboard processing in one housing, the unit operates near the process without requiring an external controller.
In the standard variant, preprocessing is handled by a Cortex A9 i.MX6 dual core processor running at 800 MHz. The platform uses 1 GB of RAM, which supports one active vision function at line speed without relying on separate computing hardware. Image capture is based on a CMOS sensor with 1.3 MP resolution, making the device suitable for area inspection, barcode reading, and dimensional checks.
