The VSS112Q12.023P-000 is a smart sensor manufactured by B & R Automation and delivered within the VS Smart Sensors series. It belongs to the Smart Sensor product group and the integrated machine vision range, combining optics, lighting, and computing in one housing. The unit provides one active vision function, so it can handle inspection or positioning directly at the machine while reducing the need for a separate industrial PC and additional vision hardware in automated equipment.

Its imaging path starts with a resolution of 1.3 MP, captured through an S-mount lens with a 1/1.8-inch format and an F3.5 aperture. A diagonal field of view of 74° covers wide conveyor lanes, and the short focal length of 4.6 mm helps the sensor keep nearby objects in focus behind the glass diffuser. High-speed production lines are supported because the sensor streams at 165 fps, which helps reduce motion blur during fast movement. Onboard illumination comes from 16 LEDs arranged in four multicolored segments, and the wide-beam LED lens type 1 with red, green, blue, and lime emitters supports scene-adaptive lighting without an external strobe. Two logical paths, represented by 2 independent cores, separate acquisition from feature extraction to help maintain consistent cycle times across repeating machine operations. The computing platform uses a Cortex A9 i.MX6 dual core processor and the standard variant option, which fits decentralized vision tasks such as inspection, code reading, and guidance.
