The VSS112825.051P-000 is a vision-sensor camera supplied by B & R Automation within the VS Smart Sensors series. Placed in the Smart Sensor product group and the integrated machine vision range, it combines optics, lighting, and processing in one housing so a PLC or motion controller receives evaluated results rather than raw images. In automated pick-and-place, inspection, or measurement stations, it performs one active vision function that can sort, count, or gauge parts without an external industrial PC.

Its compute section is driven by a Cortex A9 i.MX6 dual core processor running at 800 MHz. The two cores share 512 kB of L2 cache and are supported by 1 GB of RAM, a combination sized for the standard preprocessing performance of this model. Native image capture reaches 5.3 MP, and a continuous output of 43 fps lets the sensor track fast conveyor flows without frame loss. Line-sensor suitability means it can also reconstruct web images by synchronizing with transport speed. The single active vision task executes on the internal CPU, so only compact status or measurement data are forwarded over the machine network, helping keep deterministic cycle times intact.

The optical front end provides a horizontal field derived from its 37° viewing angle when the supplied 12 mm F4 2/3″ lens is locked into the S-mount thread. Front glass with an anti-reflective coating limits glare, preserving contrast for the red lighting block. Illumination is delivered by 16 LEDs arranged as four equal segments, and LED lens type 2 focuses the beam while the peak wavelength of 632 nm enhances edge detection on most substrates. A dedicated driver synchronizes strobe bursts to exposure, and the standard variant keeps the mount, electronics, and optics in a fixed configuration.
