The VSS112821.032P-000 smart sensor is manufactured by B&R Automation as part of the VS Smart Sensors series. It belongs to the integrated machine vision range and combines optics, lighting, and processing electronics in one enclosure. In automated assembly and packaging lines, it captures images, runs an onboard inspection algorithm, and returns pass-fail results directly to the PLC to reduce wiring and cycle time.
Processing is handled by a Cortex A9 i.MX6 dual-core CPU running at 800 MHz. With 2 cores, the device can execute an active vision function while maintaining deterministic timing and low latency during routine inspection tasks. It is paired with 1 GB of DDR3 memory to buffer images and intermediate data. The sensor produces a native resolution of 1.3 MP and sustains 90 fps under the standard preprocessing variant for real-time inspection of fast-moving parts.
Optical parameters are tuned for short and mid-range inspection.
